History is rarely made by women who do what they’re told. Or, as one of our favorite, and most commented upon, designs says;
“Women who behave rarely make history.”
In honor of that sentiment, we thought we would list some of our favorite misfits and floozees. These are the cream of the crop when it comes to “uppity women”.
- Mata Hari
- Isadora Duncan
- Mae West
- Madam Marie Curie
- Rosa Parks
- Catalina de Erauso
- Eleanor Roosevelt
- Mochizuki Chiyome
- Ada Lovelace
Whether you agree with the opinions of these women’s contemporaries and think of them as “uppity” or you find their stories inspirational case studies in female independence, there is no denying that each of these women left her mark on history.
So… here is our salute to uppity women!
What are some of your favorite misfits and floozees? We would love to hear from you.
